点名: 荔荔(就是你了,@Cornell的师姐),刘计裕夫妇,张颖,Jaw,Polly,小星星,菊斐 China--Peace Riseduring the seminar, one of my roomate told that what he learned from the seminar was that China is rising! today, another survey compiled by some US media claimed that most of the people in US think thought in a period of ten years, China would surpass US and become the super-power of the world! without any doubt, China is rising, judging from its economic scale. however, is China really rising as the outside world perceive? definitly not! the outside world consider every parts of China to be like the coastal cities, such as Peking, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and the likes. that is just an illusion. the western part of China has nothing similar with the eastern part. the income gap has been increasingly enlarged, accompanied with the disappearance of middle class. also the environmental problems~~~ thousands of people died because of that issues, leaving lots of underlying health problems for our government to address. China has no time, no money and no willingness to dominate the world like the US does. China is rising not to be a threat of the world,. we are just thriving to enhance the living standards of all the Chinese people. My InternshipWhop~~~
My internship is going to start next week
the first internship in my life
and the first time i will get paid for my work in form of salary~~hehe
Vanke~~ 15 julio Seoulsuddently i found that i haven't mentioned my Seoul trip. by comparison, Seoul has nothing different from Chinese coastal metropolitan. the acient architectures are almost the same as those in China. skyscrapers are the same as those in any metropolitans around the world.
as a result, my trip in Seoul is focused on Korean food. Pao fan, Ban fan, Leng Noodle, Shenji soup and so on~~~oh, one more thing, that is the Red Mango. quite different from the Pink Berry, its frozen yogurt is not that sour, and the fruit doesn't look that fresh. the decoration of the shop looks quite the same, using pink, green and white as the main color, giving customers the feeling of clean, fresh, vigorous, and health. About UNU Global Seninarfinally got back to GZ. i did really have a wonderful time in the past two weeks. Korea leaves me a very good impression:)either for their food or their people.
still, i want to say something about the seminar. to put it more precisely, i would like to talk about the host university--Hangdong Global University. on the first day i arrived at the university, after 7 hrs bus tour, i was really exhaustive. but the staffs of university gave us a warn welcome which refresh me a little bit. in the following day, it's the smiles on the staffs' face that made me very impressive of Hangdong University. everyday, the staffs woke much earlier than us, arranged everything for us, and rested later than us. for me, as an participant of the seminar, would feel tired only taking lectures, doing presentations and discussions. but for the staffs, they accompanied us whereever we went, arranged everthing orderly and comfortablely for us. they should be much more tired than i did. never did they display any tireness on their faces. amazing!! whenever we , participants met them, they would give us a warm smile and "hello". any announcement, they seldom made it publicly but inform each of us individually. whatever problems we met, they will try their best to help us. the attitude of their staffs really deserve the appraise.
moreover, their arrangement were so detailed any caring that i can't hardly find out some disorder or emergencies. to be honest, i had organized such kind of forums before, with a smaller scales such as students from HK, Macao and GZ. however, i had to admit that they did a much better job than i did, actually far better.
another thing worth my mention is that the president of the university. he attended all the lecture given by the UN officers and professors. such emphasis was placed to the Seminar by their president.
10 julio Travel around Koreaafter a whole week of intensive curriculum study of global issues, especially NEA issues, i finally started my journey at Pohang. After giving the presentation, i rushed back to my dorm and packed up all the stuffs, heading right to Bushan, a coastal metropolitan which is the second largest city of Korea. thanks for a very nice korean friend's help, we arrived there without too much efforts. i think i should show him my gratitude again, for he, in order to accompany us to Bushan, deliberately choosed a much longer way to go back to his home. what i learned just now is that he's worried about us that he sent one of us an email to ask us about whether we are okay now. acutally, so far we can have so much fun, owing a great lot to our Korean friends.
at Bushan, we lived in a motel named "Motel Bridge" right on the beach of Guangan Li. every day and nite, we were immersed in the sound of ocean waves, enjoying the splendid view of beach, ocean , and the Guangan Li Bridge both in sunshine and rain. the most unfogettable things must be the king crabs~~"Two crabs, two KG" i will never forget this sentence. i did have great funs at BUshan, not only because the beatiful views but also the excellent accompanies. they arranged every thing so precisely that i didn't need to worried about anything. thank you guys:)
this morning, we got to Seoul. another story is waiting to happen~~~to be continied, i am excited about our adventure @ Seoul. 06 julio JapanJapan is always a heated issue in NEA. for the Korean part, their people feel extremely dislike towards japanese people, even stronger than Chinese people. because of the historical problems, China, Korea and Japan are always conflicting with each other, especially for the Sino-Japan and Korea-Japan relations.
An American girl said in the discussion session that why not just forget about the past, then almost every problem will disappear. right after she gave this comment, all the participants criticized it fiercely. how can history be forgotten?? there is no deny that we all should look forward, not indulging in the past. but it doesn't mean that we should forget the history and the pain. my opion is that we should never forget the histroy, but things we should keep in our hearts are those lessons we should learn from the pains, but not the solely meaningless hatre.
i had a good conversation with Pro. Akia, who is from University of Tokyo--the best university in Asia. he is a very gentle and nice guy. more important, he is a know-all of China. He can speak fluent Chinese and has a very deep insight of the Chinese politics. we talked about the "Yasukuni Shrine" issue. he said that actually the former prime minister of Japan paid a visit to Yasukuni Shrine not because that he wanted to disrespect those who suffered from Japan's invasion during the SWW. the reason is that when he wanted to run for the president of the Liberal Democratic Party, he promised if he's elected, he would go to worship Yasukuni Shrine every year since the majority of LDP at that time were those who survived in the WW2. after he became the president of LDP, he was successfully elected the prime minister. the problem at that was he had to make a decission to choose whether stop going to worship Yasukuni Shrine in order to relieve the international tension or stick to his promise. obviously, at the end he made a wrong decission. according to the survey carried out by some Japanese third party organizations, inside japan those citizen who thought that he should to go worship Yasukuni Shrine and those who not were 50-50. however, his age was already gone. the newly elected japan prime minister Abe has a very large chance that he won't visit the Yasukuni Shrine any more. hopefully this can give hope to the new NEA regional relation.
talking about Japan, i have to mention the only two Japanese female participants from University of Tokyo. they are really very brilliant. one of them is very polite, and show a lot of respect to participants from other country; the other one exhibite her talent quite well. impressive! via them, i learned that indeed, there is anti-China sentiment in Japan . but this kind of sentiment is disappearing. instead, the concept that Japan should coo-operate with China and Japan should build up a new relation with Chinese people is nutured among Japanese. 05 julio Global peace and sustainable developmentthe title of this blog is just exactly the phenomeneon of the seminar. to put it more precisely, the seminar is more focused on the issues in Northeast Asia region.
actually, issues in this region are mostly those related to China, Korea, and Japan, because they are the triangle power of Northeast Asia. however, people always tend to forget that the far-east part of Russia and Mongolia are a part of Northeast Asia too. i have to admit that before i came to this global seminar, i totally foget the existence of Mongolia. somehow, i have some sympathy and confession towards this country. in today's discussion, a Korean girl, rudely, wanted to divide all the countries in NEA into three categories--developed, developing and un-developed county. on hearing her remarks, i felt strongle disgust and uncomfortable. that's really a very biased classification. a graduated student from Peking U's International Relation Department said that it's politically wrong to say developing and developed country, let alone un-developed country. normally people just say developing and less developing countries. all these things lead to the fact that accompanied by the globalization, while some countries tend to taking up a more and more important role, some are being ignored by others. again, it falls into the dilenma that whether globalization should be encouraged or not. thinking about this problem, i ,suddently, remembered the saying by Spiderman's grandma--" The more power you have, the more responsibility you shouder." it's a meaningful sentence, but not easy for countried to carry out. just as an individual, each country has its own throny issues to tackle with and its own interests to consider. no countriy, even US, dare to say that they are so sronge and well developed that they need no more improvement. consiquently, no developed countries really can spare their energy in helping other countries.
to solve this problem, we need to set up a time limit, like before 2050 we should eliminate how many percent of poverty globally, in how many years we should extiguish HIV, and so on. only in this way, will countries devote themselves into such kind of issues. 03 julio Korea 1st DayArriving in Korea for the second day, i am really worn out. Again, i fell asleep on the bus trip.
people always want to ask questions like "what's your impression of Korea?" and "what did you think of Korea before you came here?"
To the former one, i replied that Korea is very clean. the streets of Korea are much cleaner than those of China. this is not a compliment, but the truth. even in the rurual area, there is no garbage on the streets. another impression of korea is their nationalism. On the roads of Korea run mostly korean automobiles. seldon could i see any Japanese cars , or any other brands. and after having a talk with my Korean roommates, i can strongly feel their national pride. they told me that while doing things with japanese people, they really don't want to have a worse performance than the japanese do.
to the later one,i only know there are some beauty in Korea and their KINCHI.
one of my roomates, he is a Korean. but he has lived in San Fransico for three years , and in Isreal for several years. during his living in Isreal, it was exactly when the Gulf War was undergoing. he told me that at that time, he could always see some missles flying above head. dangerous! but for him at that time, he only feel cool and excited. haha
in this seminar, i feel kinda depressed, for there are a lot of students from Peking U, Tsinghua U even Cornell U. through the daily chatting wiht them, i can feel the gap between them and me for knowledge and vission. moreover, i found that a lot of asian people can understand chinese charactor even can speak a little chinese. but for me, apart from enghlish, i know no other languages. sad . there is nothing to be proud of for only can speak english.
so tired. need to sleep now. tomorrow i am going to perform Tapping , haha. just learned it today from an American girl. cool, isn't it? |
